The first couple of days were dedicated to wandering and discovering things on our own. The next were for being sightseers.
There’s a no photography rule in the Roman catacombs, so here’s the car park.
Mike was our guide, dropping facts and dad jokes and ensuring we didn’t get lost in the 150km long tunnel system.
Surfacing, and onto The Colosseum.
If you go to the Pope’s House Vatican City you’ll probably end up queuing for longer than the time you spend going around it. Mercifully, you’ll do so in the shade. Enough time to have this Ice Cream Inception thingy.
The collection at the Vatican museums is vast and eclectic, with many a derpy animal face. The conveyor belt line up people meant we were in and almost out of the Sistine Chapel before we realised it. Probably because we all know what the ceiling is like but were perhaps expecting a space that looked like a cruciform church layout and not a big hall. Then we looked up. It really is breathtaking. (Though another photography free zone, but you can Google it).
Since We Last Spoke…
- Neil Young at BST in Hyde Park with Van Morrison and Yusuf/Cat Stevens. All on fine form. Thankful to see Uncle Neil live, hope I get another chance.
Also picked up my first ever bootleg tee afterwards
- Saw Superman. Really enjoyed Superman. More on that another time. Went to a pop up Daily Planet stand in Kings Cross station the week before:
Take Care x
